How does solar energy work, what is it and what advantages does it has? How can it help us?
Solar energy - it represents a topic debated more and more in the past few years and it keeps growing in the community. Every day, huge amounts of energy are reaching the Earth's surface being wasted. We collect it for two important resources: heat and electricity. The process that produces solar energy does not involves our intervention, but capturing the energy and using it to the maximum capacity, it's our job.
What is it and how does the solar energy is produced?

The solar energy is represented by the radiant energy, which is produced by the Sun as a result of the nuclear fusion reactions. Then, sended on Earth, through space, in energy quantums, photons, it interacts with the atmosphere and the surface of the Earth. Therefore, this is the energy produced directly through the transfer of the bright energy radiated by the Sun.
Capturing and using the solar energy
The sun, with a diameter of about 1.4 million kilometers and made up of very high temperature gases, combined with a pressure of 70 billion times greater than that of the Earth's atmosphere, creates the ideal conditions for fusion reactions. Therefore, with the help of solar thermal applications, we can capture energy as heat and with the help of photovoltaic cells, electricity.

Romania presents a high potential for radiation, we can observe how in some regions, close to the litoral and the Dobrogea region, it can get an annual energy flux of 1450- 1600kWh/m2/year (Fig. Nr.2).
