The device measures the amount of (solids) dissolved and suspended in a solution known as "TDS determination". The dissolved salts are in the molecular form and the ions, the sum of which determines the conductivity of the solution. The device actually measures the conductivity of the solution, then converts these data into a readable value on the display or parts per million (ppm).
1ppm = 0.001g dissolved solids / liter.
Fluid conductivity (μS / cm) = TDS (ppm) x2
Determination is very important in monitoring the quality of drinking water and swimming pools.
